Choosing your real estate agent is an important aspect of any real estate transaction. Your real estate agent can be the difference between a good deal and a bad deal, or no deal at all. Below, I lay out what you should be looking for in a real estate agent.
Training and learning - The difference between amateurism and professionalism is systematization. An amateur improvises and hopes for the best, whereas a professional learns, trains and works according to proven planned work methods. When interviewing a real estate agent ask about his/her training. Did they spend money and energy upgrading their professional capabilities and expanding their quality of service?
Knowledge and proficiency – An excellent real estate agent must be focused in order to gain knowledge and proficiency that can advance you (the buyer/seller) to the best deal. Find an agent that is an expert in the area in which you are looking to buy or sell. The agent should demonstrate an impressive control of the following parameters: asset pricing, inventory of assets for sale, transaction histories, and facts and benefits about the area or neighborhood.
Marketing – A professional agent strives to offer a broad marketing plan that will allow exposure of your property to a maximum number of potential buyers, creating the potential for raising demand and competition for the property, which can ultimately lead to a higher closing price. Make sure your agent is willing to commit, in writing, to carrying out the various marketing activities it offers. Confirm the agent works in full collaboration with other real estate firms. Only full collaboration and a written commitment to a well formulated marketing plan can promote the sale of your property for the best price.
Service experience – You should choose a real estate agent who gives you a sense of security and reliability, someone who cares about your best interests and has a genuine desire to faithfully help you realize your real estate dreams.
